One Ocean Summit from February 9 to 11, 2022.

One Ocean Summit 2022 | Posted on 2022-02-02 16:57

As part of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union and at the initiative of the President of the Republic, an International Ocean Summit will be held in Brest, from February 9 to 11, 2022. It will give strong political impetus on the European and international agenda of maritime issues, in particular to bring to a successful conclusion the multilateral negotiations that impact the Ocean and feed the "United Nations Ocean" conference (Lisbon, end of June 2022). This first One Ocean Summit (OOS) is prepared in cooperation with the United Nations and the World Bank, as well as with many public, private and civil society partners. This major event will also bring together scientists, economic and regional actors with a view to making commitments to strengthen international ocean governance.

This major international debate on the ocean will allow knowledge to be shared and approaches to be combined, in particular by integrating climate change, in order to better anticipate ocean crises as well as technological, scientific and environmental transformations.

It will revolve around three highlights organized at the Capucins in Brest:

  • 9 international workshops of 2 hours (February 9-10),
  • 5 thematic forums (February 9-10),
  • a political segment which will bring together heads of state, representatives of the private world and the scientific community (February 11).

The workshops and forums will be held simultaneously in English and French, in a hybrid format (face-to-face and video). They will be accessible, on site or in streaming after an online registration.
Each workshop will aim to propose solutions for concrete action in the face of major maritime challenges.
In parallel with the technical and political exchanges, the general public will be able to discover the official "One Ocean Summit" pavilion, located in Océanopolis, with free access, to decipher the issues of the summit.
